Woah! Nicely done! A great choice of music, imo. I'm not familiar with Placebo's music, though I know the group, but at the start of this I thought to myself I had to find more of this group. It's a great mix with the KM scenario.

great video

i loved it! i always found spock have been a little to harsh with kirk when he talked about kirk's dad!

oh just realised James Kirk is a great man, as he never seek vengeance toward the nero who was responsible for his father's death!

Spock definitely crossed the line a bit with his remarks about George, but Karma kind of really bit him on the ass so I can't really hold it against him ;)

I loved the switch at the end of Kirk being the logical, peace-seeking one and Spock wanting to blow Nero sky high. It really reminded me of how much they influenced each other in TOS and hopefully it foreshadows the same in the reboot.

Wow, I like this a lot. Tragedy is certainly a shared tie between Kirk and Spock.

I think the reboot did a great job in making the characters who on the surface seem to be exact opposites really have parallel experiences - showing exactly the depth at which they can later relate.

Great vid. That Kirk and Spock each have their own brand of messed up thanks to Nero is both twisted and awesome. It shows well in your vid.

Yeah the boys do seem a bit more messed up this time around. I'd love to know just how much of what happened at the end was according to plan - if Spock's suicide run was completely his own doing.

if Spock's suicide run was completely his own doing.

I was trying to decide in my last viewing if it was a suicide run, or planned from the start. I'm leaning with the former the more I watch. Scotty was surprised elated but a bit surprised to beam three targets from two sources, and if he was unsure he could do it, I can't imagine it would have been The Plan. Then there's the scene on the bridge where Kirk extends a hand of mercy to Nero (saying he did it because he thought Spock would appreciate it - <3), and Spock says, "Not this time." Spock wanted Nero dead. Not that a Vulcan would ever seek revenge. Nope, not at all.

I imagine The Plan was something vague like and Spock will keep them distracted and he decided to do so by pulling a George Kirk.

Not that a Vulcan would ever seek revenge

That would imply enough anger to override reasoning and that just doesn't happen. No way! ;)

This was really fun, and I like Placebo's version of the song a lot. It's also really fun to compare it to the TOS vid to this song. :)

Thanks for making it.

Found it!

It's interesting to see a Ponn Farr spin on the song with TOS versus Kobayashi Maru with ST:XI.

It's by T'Gin. I have a downloaded version that's better-quality than the one on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhwb1pItZjE), but I don't remember where I got it.

It's basically a pon farr vid, a lot like Killa's famous "Closer" vid...

I think that those parallel tragedies and choices in their lives are going to be the root as to why no one else will quite get them the way they get each other in this time line.

Lovely! That song always gives me shivers.

It matches particularly well with the scenes of Spock and his mother, Spock prime and the final destruction of the Romulan ship.

[profile] userintroject's Tearing You Asunder fanmix (http://community.livejournal.com/kirkspock/40325.html) was the first time I really listened to the band, but I'll definitely be checking out more of their songs.

Spock got hit hard in this movie and I found it kind of ironic when I started out making this video that the history of Jim & his father that he so casually threw out in the hearing was something he almost immediately got to experience first hand with loosing a parent to Nero. And then of course later when he's making a suicide run, he's repeating the opening of the film with George Kirk and it's only Jim's crazy ass luck and belief that no win scenarios don't exist that saves him.

Is there a version for download available because I would love to add it to my "vids I watch over and over" collection.

I downloaded the movie off of torrent. Someone used a camera in a movie theater, so it's cropped funny and the audio isn't great, but it's something to work with until a better version hits the internet. If you can't find it through google let me know and I'll see if I still have the tracker tonight.

Excellent! You very much captured my image of new!Kirk&Spock in this vid. Great clip choices and scene transitions, and the song choice as inspired.

I don't suppose you'd be willing to put this up on a download site? I like it so much, I'd love it see it in its "natural state". (youtube tends to make things a bit choppy on my computer)

Lovely mood, perfect song choice. So often fanvids are spoiled by belabouring a point - instead, you showed us just enough parallels and chose your transitions in such a way that more was implied than shown. In a word, perfect.
